A beautifully hand‑painted Imari Iroe choko cup from the Edo–Meiji transition period, this piece showcases the refined overglaze enamel work that made Imari ware famous worldwide. The floral design is rendered in vivid blue, soft green, and warm red enamels, each petal and leaf outlined with delicate gold — a hallmark of higher‑grade Iroe decoration.
The interior rim features a traditional blue geometric border, while the base retains the classic unglazed foot with double blue lines, typical of Arita/Imari kiln production. Light, balanced, and richly coloured, this cup is equally suited for display or functional use as a sake cup, tea cup, or collector’s accent.
A charming and elegant example of Japanese enamel artistry from the late 19th century.
